Evaluation of key aggregate parameters on the properties of ordinary and high strength concretes

This paper reports the results of a study conducted to determine influence coarse aggregate type on workability, compressive strength, and flexural strength normal high concretes with target 28-day strengths 30 60 MPa two water/cement ratios 0.44 0.27. The were prepared using four types natural aggregates, namely diabase, calcareous, river gravel, basalt, maximum particle sizes 12.7 19.1 millimeters. Silica fume was added high-strength at replacement ratio Portland cement 10% by mass. showed that among all basaltic size millimeters produced concrete highest followed limestone aggregate, indicating size, surface texture, structure mineralogical composition play dominant role in behavior concretes, especially concretes. Normal similar strengths, while containing gave slightly higher strength. These show for given water/cementitious material ratio, is more important than concrete.
